Mon Sep 10, 2012 13:45 PM | With the release of the Iron Kingdoms Role-Playing Game coming soon (9/19, in theory), I was wondering who would be interested in forming a group for it? Privateer Press has a number of free downloads (mostly character sheets) available on their site and a few previews of the material (buried within the Privateer insider).
I figure this can open the conversation and we can see where it goes from here.

So any thoughts on what kind of character you might want to play? Reply |

in past rpgs ive been involved in which were few, i have always liked the tactical combat part. moving models around a grid and fighting. the intrigue and role playing parts are fun too but i always liked the combat most. i dont know what kind of charactor i would like to play but im glad this is new and the optimal builds havent been figured out and no one will tell you what skill set to develope. The unique setting is also a plus cause it seems like the usual archtypes of charactors have flown out the window and you can have a gernade chucking wizard type guy with a pistol! sounds fun. So, there definitely is plenty of excitement with the Iron Kingdoms RPG. I would like to suggest that we could start a campaign at the store and have it run periodically on Saturdays (maybe other days too).
In those regards, a few questions:
Who is interested?
What kind of campaign does everyone want? Intrigue? Mystery? War-story? Exploration? Wilderness? Urban?
Who would be interested in running?Reply |

Being that I have very little experience GMing, I don't think I would be capable of running, as I - along with everyone else, understandably - would be juggling learning mechanics, plotting ahead, setting aside notes for battlefields, etc. Additionally, I have never ran, nor participated in a game revolving around miniatures. I'm sure the basic concept remains the same, just battlefield play is more hands-on. I am, however, 100% willing to help with plot development to keep any potential GM's head from exploding. Don't want to make a mess.
In terms of preferred campaign, I've done warzones, mercenary detail, courier plots, and a number of other things. What I have not tried yet is an urban setting. Something much more localized that would promote smarter play, both in and out of combat. I think it would be a great start to learning what this setting, and system, can do. Seeing as it, perspectively, merges western, fantasy, and steampunk, an urban campaign can be far more diverse.
Of course, I'm open to what the majority decides; no fuss.Reply |
