Need Machinist to build rotatory die cutting machine
G.O.B. Retail in Madison Heights is looking for a machinist with experience building small machines and/or prototypes to assist in building and assembly of a new semi automated rotory die cutting machine.
Machine concept and design is largely complete, but we could use an experienced machinist to review and then take the lead on parts sourcing and actual assembly. Need not be a shop owner, but if you have some tools of the trade it may help.
This project will include a number of phases. They are as follows:
1) Design Review. Review our existing design for potential trouble spots and make recommendations on alternations to better achieve design end functionality.
2) Source parts and materials.
3) Take the lead in dealing with local machine shop/s to have custom parts fabricated.
4) Assemble the machine.
5) Assist in testing and machine changes as necessary to arrive at a fully functional machine.
6) Maintanance contract. As the machinist that helps build this machine, you would be the most qualified to help maintain its operational status or to make adjustments of add-on features after initial construction.
This is a machine that our business needs for its continued growth and no one makes one quite with the functionality, speed and size that we require. We are not engineers, but are familiar with similar and alternative die cutters. This design has been refined over the past 15 months or so and we have an exacting idea of what the end result should be and fairly vetted design ready to move into actual construction. We also have a fairly well researched budget in mind.
We need a machinist with experience in building small machines.
Required skills / experience must have :-
Metal fabrication
Precision Machine Assembly
Gear Assembly
Basic Motor Programable Controls
We need someone who will take the project on as a professional, who will stick to a time table, show up for meetings and who will communicate well. We will fund all operations from material purchasing, any outsourcing of custom parts fabrication, etc. So we need only a mechanist with the experience to get the job done and the professionalism to do it on time.
Payment is rendered in stages as progress on the machine assembly reaches set benchmarks.
