Created :
Mon Aug 06, 2012 09:51 AM | Starting Saturday September 8th, 2012, Guild of Blades Retail will be hosting the fourth and last season of the War-Torn Alliance League: Dark Secrets. For the veterans of the previous season, much of what you were familiar with will be returning. We will have Boasts! We will have the escalating point cap! Unbound games make their eager return! Prize support is hinged on the number of participating players.
As with every season, we try to bring something new to the table (figuritively speaking) for all participants to enjoy. This season we will have Bragging Rights! These will be much like achievements other organizers have utilized. Achieving a Brag will award that player additional League points. A list will be made available for all participants of achieveable Brags. Much of the details are being fleshed out at this time.
The league will be 4 weeks long, ending on October 5th with the climaxing event happening Saturday, October 6th.
Further details are as follows:
$8 entry fee with 5 player minimum and 16 player maximum.
Players cannot play against a single opponent more times than the total number of opponents they will have played. For example, player A can only play against player B once because player A have has not played against anyone else; but after playing B, when A plays against C, player A will now be able to play B and C a second time (two opponents=two games per opponent). As a point of clarification, if you participate in a team game, your "opponent cap" will correspond to the number of players in the opposing team (e.g. 2 players vs. 2 players = "opponent cap" of 2)
Team games have a different point-cap per player (not per team) than that of one-on-one matches. The point-cap* will escalate as per the following:
Week 1 (September 8th-14th): 25pts (one-on-one); 15pts per player (team)
Week 2 (September 15th-21st): 35pts; 25pts
Week 3 (September 22nd-28th): 50pts; 35pts
Week 4 (September 29th-October 5th): 100pts; 75pts
*As a reminder, the above are point-caps, so you can play smaller games with your opponent(s) agree to it.
Every player will have the option to participate in 1 one-on-one Unbound game per week and 1 Team Unbound game per week. Team Unbound games can be structured as players decide upon provided that each team has the same number of points (e.g. 150 pts. vs. 150pts.), that a minimum of 150 points per team is used, and that there is the same number of team members on each team. NOTE: Unbound games will not follow by the weekly point cap; Unbound games are an exception to that rule.
Boasts are back! A player cannot accomplish (i.e. try and succeed) the same Boast until they have successfully made all other Boasts.
Players cannot declare Boasts once play has commenced beyond deployment (incl. Advanced Deployment). If it matters for who declares first, I recommend (but not mandating) players declare in order based on turn order (i.e. 1st player declares first, then 2nd player declares second).
When playing in a team game, the team declares a Boast, not the individual players. Teams are not restricted in what Boasts they wish to make.
The Double Boast makes its return!! The way this works is as follows:
First, you and your opponent both must have made a Boast; and those Boasts MUST be different. Then, if you accomplish your Boast, you receive your normal +0.5 League points (LP); but if you also accomplish your opponent's boast, then you receive another +0.5 LP.
If you accomplish your Boast but not your opponent's, no Double Boast for you!
If you and your opponent had the same Boast, then no Double Boast for either of you!
Here are the current list of available Boasts:
-Win without killing your opponent's warcaster/warlock
-Win without your warcaster/warlock casting any spells
-Win without your warcaster/warlock using their Feat
-Win without making any Power Attacks
-Win with your warjacks/warbeasts ONLY making Power Attacks
-Win without losing any warjack/warbeast in your warcaster's/warlock's battlegroup
-Win without performing ANY freestrikes
All of the normal War-Torn Alliance rules are immedaitely in effect (e.g. Seasonal models, Alliances, Upgrades). As a reminder, this is campaign play; so, Bonding rules are in effect as well. With the exception of Alliance team games; any team game scores LP for participants regardless of Faction composition within the team.
The concluding event is still being detailed at this time. Please check back for updates.

The only restriction on playing in this league is that you cannot play an army smaller than 15 points, your games must be played in the store, your army cannot be more points than the point cap for that week and you cannot play more than 5 league games a week.
Saturdays are NOT the only day players may play league games. Saturday is a league day, meaning we will have space available for league participants. Otherwise, playing a league game is a scheduling matter between yourself and your opponents.Reply |

We will be start using computer automated system 'League Result' to update all game plays once players submit the paper results.
By this method, we expect to generate faster results and all players can view from gobretail.com website at any times with accurately.

@Amnouy, thank you very much for the update. I saw the added link the other day. It looks great! There are two more "factions" to add:
Minions (Blindwater Congregation)
Minions (Thornfall Alliance)
I have compiled a list of Achievements for players to earn/work for. For organization sakes, I am going to be posting them up as their own thread. I will be making updates on the Privateer Press forums as well as the Gamer Finder post shortly.Reply |

The concluding event will be a standard Steamroller tournament among the top eight placing players in the league. The minor twist to this is that each tournament round will be played in one of the season's regions. Reply |
