Summary Review	A fun tile laying network building game. Time your construction with the arrival of the tourists and dont get left behind in points. Kid friendly strategy, can be brutal with "gamers" too, and high quality componenets round out this game.
Detailed Review	Burrows Z-Man Games 2-5 players 45 minutes Burrows is a tile laying game where players are competing to build the "not shortest" burrow in each of 3 seperate colors. The game is played with one less gopher than number of players, in each color. Scoring happens when a Tourist Bus arrives, each bus has a certain color of gopher the tourists want to see. Gophers will go to a larger burrow of their color, leaving the burrow of the shortest length. When the tourists come, the player who doesnt have the color of gopher he tourist wish to see recieves a "complaint" valued at 1-3. Who ever has the lowest, closer to 0, total value of complaints wins. The tiles are 2x1 and can be placed in any orientation, each has 6 entry/exits. Some tiles have a BUS symbol. This will move the bus token along a track and when it reaches the end of the trackthe next scoring phase happens. Timing the bus with construction of the next "in demand" gophers is vital to success. Players are able to choose the tile they wish to lay from a pool of three tiles, giving you an option not just a random draw. Players can also choose to reserve(hold to use later) a tile from the pool instead of laying one, provivded the tile does not have a bus symbol, and play it on a later turn. You can play your reserve tile AND a drafted tile on the same turn, this is offset by not be able to play a tile the turn you reserve one. Determining which burrow will draw a gopher is done by matching symbols at the ends of each burrow. Carrots match carrots, beets match beets and radishes match radishes. Once a burrow is complete you count the number of seams in tiles that the burrow crosses. The same tile can be counted multiple times. If the new burrow has matching symbols at each end and is longer than the shortest burrow of the same color, the gopher will move to the new longer burrow. The tour bus will arrive frequently and you will have advance knowledge of what color gopher the tourists will want to see. This changes from game to game providing variety, although the first and last few color requests are scripted. Scoring and the speed that the bus visits are adjusted to the number of players. The game includes a lot of cardboard tiles, 80 rectangles. The cardboard is high quality. There are also gopher meeples!!! Its a lot of stuff for the price. The instructions are very clear and the gameplay is actually quite simple but there a lot of planning and decion making involved. The box is the right size too. I like this game. its a light game that is also a bit of a thinker. Its fun with kids and adults. It may not be the complex brain burner that hardcore gamers are looking for but its a great value and its fun. The tunnel networks look cool on the table though they do take up some space. All in all an underated game that is fun, and thats what matters most.
