Summary ReviewLove this game! We really like the co-op, the challenge, and the theme. Never the same game twice. A bit difficult to learn via the manual (lots of specifics), but once you figure it out, it's easy to explain to others, and always fun to play!
Detailed ReviewI actually bought the base game for myself, after a recommendation from a GOB staff member. He said he owned the game and multiple expansions, but had a hard time finding other players as the game is fairly complicated and time-consuming. Luckily for me, I know three other people who are into in-depth board games and are willing to expend the time and effort necessary for a really good game. Believe me, this game is worth it. Our first game, we got our a$$es kicked by the Elder One within an hour. Second game (same night) took us sixteen hours and we finally won. Looking back, we may have screwed up on the details both of those games, but they helped us figure out the real rules and I think we did things right after that. Average game-time now is around two hours. It does take a few play-thrus to really get a handle on things, but once you do, this is probably one of the best games I've ever played. We probably win and lose mostly equally when we play the base game, although the expansions make it significantly harder to win, depending on the expansion we choose. We've purchased four expansions by now, not because it has ever gotten boring, but because we want to find out what new and exciting avenues the authors have come up with and we apparently really like to be humbled by a piece of cardboard and a few decks of cards. :) If you have at least one other person who is willing to put in the time to learn the game, and maybe a few others that you can teach along the way, this game is well worth the price and time it takes to learn.

Summary ReviewArkham Horror is a brilliant game, set within the Mythos of HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu Saga.

Players take up the roles of different Investigators, Hurriedly trying to quell the Rise of an ancient Evil God.
Detailed ReviewArkham horror Is a brilliant game. Extremely complex and Unbelievably challenging, but when you sit down and play it, it is very fun.

I impulse bought Arkham horror on a whim, I had heard about it, and heard about the length of the game and the complexity, and how you never win. I took this as a challenge. Yes it's very hard and very long, but that just makes it even more satisfying to win.

My friends and I have played it about six times, Each time versing a different elder God, Nyarlathotep (yes that's his actual name), Cthulhu, Hastur, Azathoth, Ithaqua and finally Yig. Out of all of those We were only able to beat Yig, Who's basically the easiest one.

Even so we cheered, We finally beat one!

That's one of the best thing about Arkham horror, you dont win often, but when you do, it's awesome!

The game is all about closing gates, killing monsters, finding clues, and getting elder signs. Each one is rather easy to do on their own, but all of them together is hard.

The individual characters all have very distinct play styles, and i've found each of us finding characters we personally like to play. The monsters range from easy as hell to "THIS THING WILL MURDER YOU"

The board feels a bit cluttered and the huge amount of cards and tokens and overall size of the game is extremely daunting. Sit down, learn the game, and kill the elder one. If you can win, it's one of the best games you can play. but I'll warn you, you wont win.

Arkham horror is a brutal game, But totally worth it.

Summary ReviewEasily one of the best board games I have played. Great for playing with a group of friends. The most intriguing aspect of the game is the fact that the players are working as a team, rather than competing against one another.
    Detailed ReviewPlay:

The game plays very well. It requires a great deal of strategy, though it encourages you to talk among you group and plan everyone's turn to try and best the challenges the game will throw at you. The replay-ability of this game is amazing! There are so many different investigators to choose to play, and a handful of Ancient Ones(main bosses you are trying to defeat). Each game is totally different from the last. Sometimes you win, sometimes the game wins.

    Quality:

The game's quality is stunning. Coming from Fantasy Flight, it's expected, and does not disappoint. Lots of tokens, cards and pieces. All are top quality and worth the money put forth for the game. The price can be a bit high, but the quality and replay value to the game make it well worth it.

    Summary:

Get it to play with a group of friends. If the price is a bit much, throw in on it as a group. I bought mine halvsies with a friend and neither of us regret it. We've played it a number of times since purchase and each time has been a different experience. Definitely a good purchase for someone looking for a game that's a bit different from the rest.
