Infinite City Board Game

    Summary ReviewInfinite City
AEG games 2-6 players 30-60 minutes
Infinite City is an abstract tile laying game. Each player has a hand of tiles and draws from the stack at the end of their turn to keep 5 at all times, it is possible to have more than 5 with certain tiles allowing you to draw extra tiles. Players place tiles and follow the instructions on the tiles to move markers around and trade control of certain tiles, example: Move all adjacent markers onto this tile, or, trade this tiles location with one in adjacent spot. Each tile scores based on its power and rarity. The objective is to have the highest value in tiles/marker clusters when either of these conditions occur: A player places his 12th and final marker, or the 5th "power station" tile is laid down. Scoring is done by counting the clusters of markers in adjacent connecting groups of 3 or more, then adding in various end game bonuses(most silver tiles etc) Tiles may have markers of more than one player on them. There are way more tiles than you will use in a game making it impossible to "card count" and predict when the game will end or when a certain type of tile will pop up.

Components: The cardboard is great, the artwork is very art deco, the markers are wooden cylinders. The only problem is the cylinders tend to fall and roll, perhaps cubes/chips would've been better. The instructions are very clear and the rules are simple.
This is a fun game, a real thinker where its easy to screw up another players plans. I have only played with 4 players and i think it would be more fun with more people. Slightly chaotic so master planners may not like the conflict nature of this game. The city building theme is intergrated well but this is an abstract strategy game above all else.
